Bob Job took over a shack on Perranporth's three-mile beach in 1978 — the previous owner had left for Byron Bay — and built it into what the family bills, with little contradiction from anyone, as the UK's only bar on the beach: on the sand itself, backed by dunes, midway between Holywell and St Agnes. Nearly fifty years on it is still the Jobs', Bob and son Tom, with food from breakfast onward, hours that answer to the weather as befits a building on a tidal beach, and a live-music diary running from free afternoon shows to ticketed tribute nights all summer. There is no parking at the bar; you walk down the sand to it.
