A volunteer-run museum in the exact sense of both words. The Newquay Old Cornwall Society's collection — more than five thousand photographs, with documents, newspapers and maps covering the town and its surrounding parishes — is shown these days in a corridor gallery at Central House, the society having been evicted from the archive space it had kept for over twenty-five years when the town council took the building. It receives no public funding; donations, memberships and sponsors keep the doors open, volunteer hands willing, and a pivot to digital work — 3D photogrammetry, an online database — is underway. The corridor gallery keeps weekday working hours, and the archive room opens on Wednesdays.
