The WeeCrafty Owl

Mairi Coventry opened The Wee Crafty Owl on Jamaica Street in Greenock in April 2019, after years working in craft and fabric retail. She stocks British and Scottish wool alongside haberdashery, craft kits and faux fur pom-poms for hatmaking, and set aside a workshop area at the back of the shop for classes in crochet and other traditional crafts. Every Wednesday morning the Wee Crafty Social group meets there for an hour and a half, bringing projects to work on over a cup of tea. Coventry learned to craft from her mother and grandmother before opening the shop herself. It was named COVID Resilience winner at the Inverclyde Chamber ICON Awards in 2022 and runner-up for Best Yarn Store in Scotland at the 2024 Yarn Industry Awards. It opens Tuesday to Saturday, from half past nine until half past four.
