Waterfront Cinema

West Coast Cinemas has run the four-screen Waterfront Cinema on Custom House Way in Greenock since it opened in 1996, making it the town's only cinema. The family business upgraded to fully digital projectors as part of a refurbishment and has kept close ties with local schools, charities and youth groups over the years. Alongside first-run Hollywood titles, the programme includes a Fun Film Club for children and Silver Screen daytime showings aimed at older customers, plus autism-friendly screenings with adjusted lighting and sound. Staff training at the cinema has been recognised by Investors in Young People. The building sits on the Greenock waterfront close to the town's ocean terminal, within walking distance of the railway station. Unlike the large chains that dominate cinema-going elsewhere in Scotland, Waterfront remains independently owned and run as a single site by the family that opened it.
