The Beacon Arts Centre stands on Custom House Quay on Greenock's waterfront, a purpose-built venue opened in 2013 and run by Greenock Arts Guild, the charity whose amateur and professional theatre roots in the town date to 1946. Its glass-fronted building holds a main auditorium and a smaller studio, plus a gallery suite used for exhibitions, rehearsals and functions. The programme is deliberately broad: touring productions from companies such as Scottish Opera and the National Theatre of Scotland, classical and chamber concerts, gigs, pantomime, dance and community musicals, alongside classes and workshops. Sitting beside the Clyde with views across to the hills, it doubles as a meeting point and cafe space as well as a stage. As a charity-run venue it reinvests in local participation, and it remains Inverclyde's principal year-round performing-arts house.
