Total Eclipse ofthe Art Gallery

Carol Gibbons owns and runs Total Eclipse of the Art Gallery from Bruche Heath Gardens in Warrington, having previously run a craft shop at Walton Gardens before taking on the gallery space. The gallery hires wall space to artists at a flat rate and takes no commission on sales, a structure aimed at painters showing work for the first time as well as established names. Carol's daughter Laura Gibbons, a professional artist, teaches watercolour, oil and acrylic classes alongside her mother through the week, with life-drawing sessions also on the timetable. Exhibitions rotate monthly rather than staying fixed, with the current show themed around the natural world. The gallery opens Tuesday to Saturday, ten until four, and operates as a single independent site rather than a branch of a larger network of galleries.
