The Watch House museum at Spanish Battery, Tynemouth, is run by the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade, a volunteer coastal rescue charity founded in 1864 after the wreck of the Stanley and the Friendship. Free to enter, it displays rescue equipment and artefacts from over 160 years of service.
