NORD Bottle Shop opened on Park View in Whitley Bay in 2017, set up by a small group with a shared interest in beer rather than a background in the drinks trade. The shop keeps its entire stock in refrigerated storage, which the owners say is uncommon among UK bottle shops and helps preserve hop character in cans that would otherwise sit at room temperature. Beers come from independent breweries across the UK and abroad, including names such as Verdant, Cloudwater and Track, alongside sours, stouts, low- and no-alcohol options and gluten-free beers. Packaging is chosen with an eye to reducing waste, and the range rotates regularly rather than holding a fixed core list. The shop sits among the run of independent food and drink traders on Park View, a short walk from the seafront, and has operated as a single site since opening.
