Wimbledon Books

Founded in 1996 on Wimbledon Hill Road and settled in the Village since 2004, Wimbledon Books is the kind of shop that introduces its staff by first name — booklovers Philip, Ros, Barbara, Abena and Lucy, by its own account — with Philip Hunter and Rosalind Sippy the directors of record. The children's side is the deep strength, padded out with toys, games and stationery in the manner of a shop that knows exactly which customers drag which adults through the door. Wimbledon Village trades heavily on its village-ness; this is one of the shops that makes the claim honest.
