Built in 1721 by the Company of Blanket Makers, the Hall was where every blanket woven in Witney was weighed, measured and stamped for over a century, with the trade's rules set in its upstairs Great Room. After the weighing trade moved to the New Mills in 1845, the building passed through uses including a brewery, a lemonade factory and a dancing school before closing. It reopened as a museum in 2015, run by hall warden Angela Griffin, with the old Measuring Room now a shop selling woollen throws and the Pieshop serving homemade pies, cakes and coffee in the room behind. Entry to the museum is free, open Wednesday to Saturday, on the town's High Street.
