Amaryllis Guest House occupies a Georgian townhouse built in 1806 at 21 Upper Gilmore Place, on the edge of Bruntsfield, and has operated as a guest house since September 1996. It is independently owned and run day to day by its two proprietors, named in Companies House records as persons with significant control at the same address, with guests describing the two women running the property directly. Rooms are en-suite with a flat-screen television, hairdryer and hospitality tray, offered on a room-only basis without breakfast service. The building has no lift, and guests reaching upper floors climb as many as 42 steps with their own luggage; there is no porter and no on-site parking. It sits roughly twenty minutes' walk from Princes Street and the West End, within reach of Bruntsfield Links and Tollcross. The guest house is not part of any hotel group or franchise.
