Black Cloak Brewing was founded in Colwyn Bay in 2018 by Max Harris and Andrew Randles, who met while working together at another North Wales brewery before starting their own. In early 2024 the business moved into a larger, ten-barrel plant at the Denbigh Enterprise Centre on the Colomendy Industrial Estate, giving the brewery its own on-site taproom alongside the production kit. The taproom pours Black Cloak's cask and keg beers direct from the brewery, supplemented by guest keg lines and rotating collaboration brews made with other independent breweries. Seating is informal, with high stools and low benches for around two dozen drinkers looking directly onto the brewing plant. The taproom keeps to a short weekend opening, Friday and Saturday afternoons into the evening, reflecting its status as a working brewery rather than a full-time pub. Beers also go out in cask, keg and can to independent bars and bottle shops across North Wales, but the Denbigh site remains the brewery's only taproom and point of direct sale to visitors.
