Apple TreeStudios

Apple Tree Studios is the working pottery of ceramicist Steve Tootell, at Bryn Clwyd on Brookhouse Road, on the countryside edge of Denbigh. Tootell has decades of experience, much of it teaching and making overseas before settling in the Vale of Clwyd, and his output spans Japanese-style Raku, traditional English slipware and wood-fired stoneware. The studio runs hands-on pottery classes and courses for beginners and returning makers, covering throwing, hand-building and glazing through to firing, and also serves as a small gallery where finished pieces can be seen and bought. Sessions are kept deliberately small so students get direct instruction at the wheel. It is a genuinely independent, single-maker operation rather than a franchised craft-experience chain. Visits, class places and purchases are arranged directly with the potter, making it a quiet stop for anyone interested in ceramics.
