Gavin Barnes, a 2015 MasterChef: The Professionals finalist, opened Highstreet Kitchen in April 2022 at 68 High Street, Lymington, in a unit that was previously a Pizza Express. Barnes spent seven years as head chef at Hotel TerraVina under Gerard and Nina Basset and earlier worked as sous chef for Alex Aitken at Le Poussin at Parkhill. The restaurant seats around 68 covers across a basement and ground-floor dining room, with a small rear courtyard terrace. Menus draw on local producers including Blackwater Farm and J.S. Fresh Fish, alongside a wine list weighted toward English and sparkling bottles. Barnes describes the food as high-end without losing informality. The kitchen serves lunch and dinner Tuesday to Saturday, plus a Sunday brunch service from 9am to 2pm.
