Home is the Penarth restaurant of chef James Sommerin, opened in 2021 at 1 Royal Buildings after his earlier seafront restaurant closed. It is a small, family-run fine-dining room seating around twenty, with a chef's-table format that puts diners close to the pass. Sommerin runs the kitchen alongside his daughter Georgia, while his wife Lou oversees front of house. Cooking centres on multi-course tasting menus built on Welsh produce, and within months of opening the restaurant was awarded a Michelin star, regaining the recognition Sommerin had held at his previous site; it also holds four AA rosettes. The setting is deliberately pared back, with the focus on the food and a wine list chosen to match the menu. Booking is essential given the limited covers, and the room runs a set tasting menu rather than a la carte service.
