Irvings Butchers occupies a shopfront on Market Street in Ulverston, within a butchery trade in the town recorded since the early nineteenth century. John Turner took over as proprietor in 1977, and the current team, John, Keith, Ian and Darren, share more than a century of combined experience behind the counter. The shop makes its Cumberland sausage and dry-cured bacon on the premises, alongside a full range of traditional cuts sourced from Cumbrian farms. Fixtures include a wooden counter and hand-written price boards typical of an old-fashioned high-street butcher. Irvings remains a single, family-run shop rather than a wholesale or multi-branch operation, serving Ulverston's Thursday and Saturday markets as well as its everyday trade from its Market Street premises.
