Joshua Tree Bistro operates from Yard 11 Stramongate, one of Kendal's historic covered yards, in a building dating to the 16th century. Nick and Shelley Allen run the café and bistro, drawing on backgrounds in international hotel and restaurant kitchens to keep the menu simple: seasonal, locally sourced dishes cooked and served without excess, with bread, cakes and other items made in house. The venue trades as a daytime café from Tuesday to Saturday, serving breakfast and lunch to a mix of regulars, market-day shoppers and visitors exploring Kendal's yards. Exposed stone walls and timber beams reflect the age of the building, while the changing blackboard menu keeps to what is in season. It closes on Sundays and Mondays.
