Gareth and Becky run Mold Alehouse from a Grade II listed unit at Earl Chambers on Earl Road, opposite Mold's town hall and a short walk from the museum and library. Opened in 2016 as the first micropub in North Wales, it keeps to four rotating cask ales, five keykeg lines and four ciders, and serves no food. Gareth talks customers through the beer list with evident enthusiasm, and the pub has built a reputation on conversation over background noise, deliberately skipping music, television and fruit machines. The approach has been recognised repeatedly by CAMRA, including Best Pub in Wales in 2022 and North Wales Pub of the Year in 2024. Dogs are welcome and a cafe operates from the same building through a shared entrance.
