Oldham's Bakery

Oldham's Bakery trades from the left-hand unit of Denbigh's colonnaded market row, a Grade II listed range shown on John Speed's 1610 map of the town and rebuilt in mid-Victorian Gothic style with a crow-stepped brick gable. Behind the counter the bakery turns out fresh cream cakes, bread, meat pies and sausage rolls each morning, drawing locals collecting bread for the day alongside visitors after a filled roll. The shop keeps to a short working week, closing on Saturdays and reopening Sunday mornings. Reviewers single out the cream cakes and the bread as reasons to return, and the counter has held its place on the High Street for years as one of the town's few surviving independent bakeries.
