Olympus Fish and Chip Restaurant traces back to 1988, when Tasos Pattichis opened a small fish and chip takeaway on Great Moor Street in the former Jubilee fruit and vegetable shop, on the advice of his father Michael, who had run the Olympus Grill on Churchgate since 1960. Pattichis refurbished the site in 2012, installing a grand piano, and later acquired the adjoining former Griffin pub, assembling what is now a 200-seat dining room with art deco-style arched windows. The menu centres on fish, chips and mushy peas, served alongside a pianist and regular dance and singalong afternoons that draw coach parties from across the North West. The family's original Churchgate restaurant closed when Tasos's parents retired in 1999, leaving this Great Moor Street site as the only Olympus in operation today, run as a single restaurant rather than a group.
