Percy House Gallery occupies a Grade II* listed building on Cockermouth's Market Place dating from 1390, converted into a gallery and shop by Vivien Austin and Karen Cottier, who opened it in May 2002. The single-site gallery shows work by Cumbrian and British artists across jewellery, textiles, ceramics, painting and photography, changing its displays through a programme of exhibitions. Exposed beams and thick stone walls from the building's medieval origins remain visible throughout the rooms used for hanging and display. The gallery has traded from the same Market Place address since opening in 2002, functioning as both retail shop and exhibition space for regional artists rather than a commercial chain gallery.
