Rarekind Records has traded from Trafalgar Street since 2010, growing out of an earlier graffiti art and customisation shop of the same name. The stock leans towards funk, soul, hip hop, jazz, reggae and Afro-Latin music, mixing new pressings with a deep secondhand section restocked as collections come in. Staff buy records directly from sellers rather than relying only on distributors, which keeps the secondhand racks changing week to week. Orders placed online before 2pm on a weekday go out the same day, and postage is free on UK orders over fifty pounds. The shop keeps its North Laine storefront distinctive with hand-painted signage rather than standard shopfitting. It opens seven days a week, with shorter Sunday hours, and remains one of the few Brighton record shops built around a specific run of genres rather than a general crate-digger mix.
