A timber Midland Railway "type 2a" signal box at the south end of Settle station's southbound platform, opened on 12 April 1891 and closed for operational purposes in May 1984. Network Rail still owns it; the Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line took it on long-term loan in 1997 and moved it 150 yards using a 90-ton crane and rail trolleys. Volunteers open it most Saturdays, 10am to 4pm, admission free. Grade II listed in 2013; ten levers work for visitors to pull.
