Strangers Coffee

Alex Sargeant and Samuel Maddocks began roasting in 2009 — the name honours the Tudor 'Strangers', the immigrant weavers Norwich took in — and with William Maddocks aboard since 2014 the operation has grown to four doors without leaving the city: the Dove Street roastery, the Pottergate café, a takeaway window on All Saints Green and a Ber Street warehouse the company bought outright in 2024, an investment disclosed here because freeholds are how independents dig in. The roasts supply half of Norwich's better cafés and a national wholesale list; the espresso at the source remains the correct order.
