Volcano CoffeeWorks

Kurt Stewart, a New Zealander who wanted to bring the coffee he grew up with to Britain, started Volcano Coffee Works with a single coffee cart in 2010. The company now roasts at its own plant in West Norwood and runs Door, a café on Ferndale Road in Brixton operated jointly with its sister brand Assembly Coffee — the first time the two have shared a public counter. Volcano holds B Corp certification, roasts to order for wholesale accounts and home subscribers, and teaches barista courses from its Brixton base. The Brixton blend, one of the roastery's regular coffees, carries a three-star Great Taste award.
