Abriachan Garden Nursery occupies a steep hillside above Loch Ness, at Loch Ness Side between Inverness and Drumnadrochit. The Davidson family established the nursery in 1983 after returning from farming in the Falkland Islands, bringing an interest in southern-hemisphere plants that still shapes the collection. Four acres of woodland garden wind past ponds and terraces, underplanted with old-fashioned primulas, auriculas, helianthemums and hardy geraniums; an auricula theatre is staged each spring. The adjoining retail nursery propagates rare and unusual perennials on site, with staff on hand for advice. The garden opens under Scotland's Garden Scheme, with entry proceeds going to charity, and Royal Horticultural Society members are admitted free. Open daily, February to November, 9am until 7pm or dusk.
