Castle Gallery opened on Castle Street in April 2001, when Denise Collins, who already ran a gallery in Cambridge, bought and restored an early-18th-century shop building that had previously sold local ceramics and textiles. Collins identified a gap in the Highland market for contemporary fine art and applied craft, and the gallery now represents around 200 artists and makers, including printmakers Barbara Rae, Victoria Crowe, Angie Lewin and Karolina Larusdottir alongside ceramicist Blandine Anderson. Exhibitions rotate through the year, with a changing programme of paintings, prints, sculpture and studio ceramics displayed across the restored building. The gallery is independently owned and run by Collins from the single Castle Street site, with an online shop supplementing in-person sales and free UK shipping on higher-value orders. It is open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 6pm, and closed on Sunday and Monday.
