Ash Smoked Fishes operates from Hut 8 on Crag Path, one of the black-painted fishermen's huts opposite Aldeburgh's Moot Hall. The counter hand-cures and smokes mackerel, salmon, cod's roe, crab and kippers over real oak, in the tradition long used along this stretch of coast. Customers buy a smoked fish platter or a mackerel pâté roll to eat on the shingle facing the sea. The kitchen also makes a noon tart combining smoked haddock with smoked cheddar, cream and free-range eggs. The hut is open every day of the year from 8am to 5pm, with online ordering available for local delivery and click and collect alongside the counter trade.
