Betty Nicols occupies a B-listed building on Kirkcaldy High Street, built in 1902 as a replica of an earlier hostelry recorded on the same site back to 1741. Original patterned floor tiles and stained glass survive inside the merchants' quarter pub. Locals Andrew McGonigal and Hannah Murphy took over its day-to-day running in 2023 and have kept it in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide, with the pub named Kingdom of Fife CAMRA Pub of the Year. Three hand pumps rotate real ales, often including beers from Argyll's Fyne Ales, alongside a bottled beer, whisky and wine range. A bistro menu with vegan options is served at lunchtime through the week and into the afternoon at weekends, and the pub runs a regular quiz night. It has no independent website, and is best found through its Facebook page and CAMRA listing. Open seven days a week, with shorter hours on Sunday and Monday than the rest of the week.
