Caffi Mawr

Caffi Mawr is a seasonal cafe and ice cream kiosk at Newport Sands, set back from the beach car park a short walk from Traeth Mawr, the "big beach" that gives the business its name. It serves soft-scoop and Welsh dairy ice creams, hot and cold drinks, and a simple food menu of filled rolls and sourdough baps, with an adjoining Eco Beach outpost selling swimwear, buckets and other seaside basics. Seating is outside, mostly under cover, looking across the dunes towards the estuary, and dogs are welcome at the tables. The cafe only opens through the spring and summer season, closing over winter when the beach car park itself is quieter, and hours can shift with the weather since much of the trade depends on visitors walking up from the sand. It remains a single-site, family-run operation rather than part of any wider chain of beach kiosks along this stretch of coast.
