Ashe Wright founded Divine Coffee House in 2011, first on High Pavement in the Lace Market before relocating to Haydn Road in Sherwood. The café serves an entirely vegetarian and vegan menu alongside espresso drinks, cakes and light lunches, drawing a mixed crowd of students, families and dog walkers from the surrounding streets. Wright has spoken about the value of independent shops on Haydn Road, arguing that spending locally keeps money circulating in the neighbourhood rather than flowing to shareholders. The room is small and informal, with mismatched furniture and a counter stacked with cakes baked on site. Divine holds LGBTQ+-friendly status and has built a loyal following among Sherwood regulars, remaining one of the street's longer-standing independent businesses.
