Rob Morris teaches silversmithing from the Windmill Workshop, a purpose-built studio overlooking the sea in Whitstable, run under the Front Jewellery name. Now largely retired from commission work and repairs, he has kept the courses going, taking small groups of up to four students, occasionally six by arrangement, through techniques including hammering, texturing, soldering, sawing, reticulating, rolling, satining and oxidising. Options range from half-day and full-day introductions to silversmithing for complete beginners to a dedicated commitment and wedding ring workshop, run by appointment, where couples make their own rings under guidance. One-to-one instruction is available by the hour or the day for makers at any level, and experienced jewellers can also book the workshop for independent use without tuition.
