Hootananny has run as an independent, family-owned pub and live-music venue on Church Street for more than two decades, established by Kit Fraser. Music starts most nights around 8.30pm, with a mix of traditional Scottish sessions and touring folk and rock acts; performers who played here before wider fame include Mumford & Sons, Sam Fender and Jake Bugg. The ground-floor bar serves cask ales and a food menu, while Hoots Hotel occupies rooms upstairs, each individually decorated, including tartan-themed bathrooms. The venue has been voted Highland pub of the year multiple times by the Inverness City Advertiser and won Scotland's Best Live Music Venue in 2019. It remains single-site and independently run, without brewery or chain ownership, opening from 5pm on weekdays, 4pm on Saturday and 5pm on Sunday, and closing between midnight and 3am depending on the night.
