Jolly Farmer

The Jolly Farmer has been run by the same family, currently Steve and Chris Hardstone, since 1971, becoming a free house in the mid-1990s after decades tied to a brewery. The building itself is far older: a village inn with oak beams and wattle and daub walls still visible throughout the bar and dining rooms. Up to eight real ales rotate through the pumps, drawn from breweries of every size across Britain rather than a fixed list, alongside craft beers, ciders and a modest wine selection. The kitchen cooks a seasonal menu built around local ingredients where possible, with a carvery offering a choice of roasts and traditional sides. Dogs are welcome throughout, and the pub also lets rooms for anyone wanting to stay over in the village centre rather than drive home.
