Katharine House Gallery has dealt in Modern British Art from a 16th-century listed building on The Parade in Marlborough since the early 1990s. Proprietor Chris Gange deals in paintings, prints, drawings, constructions and sculpture by British artists working during and after the post-war period, alongside British studio pottery of the same era, a field in which the gallery has built a particular reputation. Stock changes as pieces sell and new consignments arrive, rather than following a programme of temporary exhibitions, so the gallery operates as much as a dealership as a public showroom. The business behind it, Katharine House Gallery Limited, was incorporated in 1999, formalising trading that had already been under way for several years. Viewing is generally in person during opening hours or by appointment for higher-value pieces, in keeping with its role as a specialist dealer rather than a walk-in gift shop.
