The King's Head Inn stands on Ruthin Road in Bwlchgwyn, a village on the hill road out of Wrexham toward the Clwydian Range and reputed to be the highest village in Wales. The pub is a free house, independent of any brewery tie, and reopened in July 2017 after a full refurbishment of a building that had traded in the village for considerably longer. A single changing cask ale is kept, often sourced from Wrexham's own Big Hand Brewing, alongside standard keg lines. The bar has a wood-burning stove and a television for sport, while a separate, quieter room offers banquette seating away from the main trade. Food runs to straightforward bar meals and weekend breakfasts rather than a restaurant menu, and the pub hosts a regular quiz night and bingo evening for the village. Opening hours are limited on quieter weekdays, with the pub closed on Monday and Tuesday and its longest hours running from Wednesday through the weekend.
