Acorn Furniture

Acorn Furniture operates from Mountain View Workshops on the Rhosddu Industrial Estate in Wrexham, where Nick Lumb has designed and built bespoke wooden furniture since establishing the business in 1998. Working mainly in British hardwoods such as oak, ash and elm, Lumb makes one-off pieces to commission: tables, chairs, cabinets, staircases, doors and gates, often to a client's own brief rather than from a set catalogue. A recurring line of work turns timber from a client's own felled tree into furniture for the same household, keeping the wood's origin attached to the finished piece. The workshop has also produced carved commissions, including a memorial piece connected to the Vimto brand. Lumb works largely alone, taking on a limited number of commissions at a time, and consultations are by appointment rather than through passing trade. There is no retail shopfront; pieces are viewed by photograph or by visiting the workshop directly. The business has traded from the same Wrexham premises since the late 1990s.
