Little Angel Theatre occupies a former temperance hall at 14 Dagmar Passage, converted in 1961 by puppeteer John Wright and a troupe of collaborators into a dedicated marionette theatre for children. It opened on 24 November 1961 and has run continuously from the same building since, becoming one of the oldest venues in Britain devoted to puppetry. Over three decades the resident company built more than thirty full-scale productions, touring internationally and collaborating with figures including conductor Daniel Barenboim on large-scale work for the South Bank and Barbican centres. The theatre continues to stage puppet shows for children and trains new performers through its workshops. Tucked off Cross Street behind St Mary's Church, it remains a single, independent venue rather than part of a wider theatre group.
