Penny Teale has run Orford General Store and its adjoining post office since 2010, after a career as a general merchandise director at Sainsbury's. Around 40 percent of stock comes from more than sixty Norfolk and Suffolk suppliers, tracked weekly through an EPOS system that drops lines failing to sell within six weeks. A butcher's counter sources 99 percent of its meat from within fifteen miles, and Teale, who holds a WSET level three wine qualification, stocks smaller wine producers instead of recognisable champagne brands. The shop trades Monday to Saturday from 8:30am to 5:30pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm, with home delivery available to nearby villages.
