Pillars of Hercules is an organic farm shop and café a mile outside Falkland on the Strathmiglo road, growing vegetables organically since 1983 and among the first sites in Scotland to do so. What began as a small market garden grew over four decades into a working farm with a shop, vegetarian café, plant nursery, campsite and bothy. Ownership passed in 2023 from the original founders to Falkland Rural Enterprises, a local farming company that also manages other parts of the wider Falkland Estate land. The shop sells home-grown vegetables alongside organic meat, dairy, wholefoods and groceries from other small Scottish producers, and runs a weekly veg box scheme. The café serves vegetarian breakfasts, lunches and home baking made with produce from the fields outside, with outdoor seating looking over the market garden and the Lomond Hills beyond. The site also has pitches for tents and campervans and a bothy available to book, alongside seasonal farm tours.
