The Rocket House Café sits on the first floor of the old rocket house above Cromer beach, with the pier and the North Sea filling the windows, and has been Robbie Kirtley's since 2006. Kirtley is emphatic about keeping it independent — not, as he puts it, letting it get taken over by chains — and it has traded steadily through the ups and downs of the building below it, all-day breakfasts and crab lunches with one of the best views on the north Norfolk coast. In a resort town of passing trade, it is a genuine local independent. Go for the crab and the view, in that order.
