Sharon McSwiney — Galleryon the Square

Sharon McSwiney has worked metal for more than thirty years — sterling silver jewellery cast from limpet shells picked off Cornish beaches, etched copper and brass wall pieces running to seaweed and sea creatures. Her Gallery on the Square opened in 2021 at 12 Island Square, after eight years at the Drill Hall, and carries her own work alongside handmade pieces by other makers; the making itself happens at her studio in the Sloop Studios on Back Lane, taken on in 2024. The posted hours are '11ish to 4ish', Monday to Friday, with closures when she is away exhibiting — ring ahead before making a special trip.
