Smeaton NurseryGardens

Smeaton Nursery Gardens occupies the walled garden of the Smeaton estate on Preston Road, just outside East Linton. The garden first opened as a nursery in the 1960s, and the current team has run it since 2003, propagating and selling trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials, fruit and seasonal bedding, much of it grown on site. A tearoom serves homemade food, and a gallery space shows work by local artists; a local delivery service is available for plants and garden supplies. The nursery is known for stocking less common varieties alongside the everyday, and the walled setting includes mature trees and glasshouses. It sits close to the River Tyne and the John Muir Way, within the historic estate once cultivated by the Hepburn and Gray families. Opening is seasonal, with the nursery and tearoom keeping daytime hours.
