Temperance runs from a Grade II listed Regency building at 33 Bath Street, put up around 1810 to a design by William Thomas and, from about 1880, the Westminster Temperance Hotel and Coffee Tavern. Today it works as a café and gallery by day and a bar and live music venue by night, operated by Temperance Live, a community interest company. The programme covers folk, jazz, acoustic and singer-songwriter gigs, open-mic sessions, a philosophy club and podcast recordings, with the walls given over to rotating shows by local artists. Food and drink run alongside the events rather than a full restaurant service. Being CIC-run, any surplus is put back into gigs and community activity rather than paid out to owners. It sits in Leamington's Old Town, a short walk from the river and Jephson Gardens, with most gigs ticketed.
