Thame Jewellery Workshop was established on the High Street in Thame in 2014 by Robert French and Dave Hansford, two goldsmiths who both trained in London's Hatton Garden district; French began his apprenticeship there at sixteen and now has more than forty-five years in the trade. The workshop sits at the back of the shop at 87 High Street, where the pair design, make and repair bespoke jewellery on site rather than sending work out to a third party. Commissions range from engagement rings to remodelled family pieces, with customers able to discuss work in progress at the counter. The High Street shop is the only Thame Jewellery Workshop premises; there are no other outlets trading under the name.
