The BlueBoar

Weston Kieran Lyons, previously landlord of Steamin' Billy's, opened The Blue Boar in 2016 with Richard Thomas, who sources the beer, taking over an office unit on Millstone Lane that had been vacant since around 2000. The single room keeps things simple: a bar just inside the door, a cellar visible through a glass partition, and seating made from spare cask barrels rather than furniture bought in. Up to nine changing cask ales are joined by a house beer, Blue Boar Bitter, brewed specially by Bang The Elephant in Derbyshire and poured nowhere else but here and its sister pub in Coalville. No hot food is served, only local pork pies and cheese or ham cobs, alongside board games and old maps of Leicester on the walls.
