The OldTap

The Old Tap opened in September 2024 in the former Halifax Bank building on Market Street, Beccles, a Grade II listed property that Matthew and Cloe Mills converted into a taproom, bar and bottle shop. The couple installed ten rotating real ale lines and ten craft beer taps alongside cider, wine, spirits and cocktails, retaining features of the former banking hall in the fit-out. The single-site business is run directly by the Mills family, with no other branches in the town or elsewhere. Suffolk breweries feature regularly on the bar alongside guest beers from further afield, with the range changing through the week. The building's high ceilings and original counter position are a visible reminder of its previous life as a bank branch.
