The PortersArms

Emily Bridges and Elliot Dransfield converted a former telescope shop on Red Lion Street into the Porters Arms in December 2023, their second micropub after opening the Malt and Mardle in Norwich in 2021. The single small room holds around twenty-five people around a bar stocked with rotating cask ales, craft keg beers, at least one real cider and a fridge of canned beer alongside wines and spirits. The pub describes itself as independent, with no brewery tie: the couple built it themselves with help from a friend, Johnny, and choose the beer list line by line. It keeps to a short week, closed Monday and Tuesday, and takes dogs, running no music or screens beyond low background sound.
