The Stag occupies a former village pub on Mill Wynd in Falkland, close to Falkland Palace, and reopened in January 2024 after a period of closure and a full refurbishment. The operators returned to Scotland after more than 30 years working in the wine trade in France and now run it as a neighbourhood wine bar and bistro rather than a traditional pub, combining backgrounds in wine, cooking, growing and design. The kitchen serves food from lunch through to early evening, with a wine list built around smaller growers alongside cocktails, beer and spirits; a Friday dinner service runs into the evening. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor balcony tables. The building is one of Falkland's older pub premises, and the current owners have kept the shell of the room while changing the offer inside it. Payment is by card only, no cash. It sits a few minutes' walk from Falkland Palace and the start of several Lomond Hills walking routes.
