The Yellow Canary has traded on Fore Street in St Ives since 1972, remaining independent and family run across five decades. Its name recalls the canaries once carried underground by Cornish tin miners. A recent renovation opened the cafe into a brighter, pared-back space with more seating, though the daily rhythm has stayed the same: coffee made on a La Marzocco machine using beans from Origin Coffee of Helston, and cream teas built on Rodda's cream, Boddington's Berries jam and tea from the Cornish Tea Co. The cafe opens daily from seven in the morning until eight at night, and now posts cream teas by mail order using the same ingredients served in the shop. It occupies a single site in the town's cobbled centre.
